After two meetings and being hired my tattoo was noticed and job gone. I took time to memorize menu and passed menu test, no driving record check,no drug test, no background check, just a tattoo check.

Rock stars wanted says their poster. HA! They won't talk about or stand up for this policy, told me it was unclean and not discrimination. Worst hiring practice ever!!

I have never been made to feel uncomfortable about my appearance in 17 years. Congratulations jimmy john!! Soldiers have been getting rank, memorial, and patriotic style tats since WW1. Who knew when they came back they could not deliver sandwiches for $7 an hour 3 hours a day.

Should a decades long love for a centuries old art form keep me from working. I am a 33yr old veterinary technician married with a child.

I did not go into a criminal underground or prison to obtain them. They are expensive and of professional quality bought legally with money earned from more open minded employers.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Location: Westmont, Illinois

Pissed Consumer is a joke! Don't post anything here unless you want to be harassed by some low life like Kevin Richards.

I'll never post here again and will post my experience on social media everywhere...

Shame on Pissed Consumer for not having a clue how to run this site. This site should change their name from Pissed Consumer to "Trolled Consumer"

Neck and face tattoos are trashy they remind people of Charles Manson. Have you thought of getting it lasered off?

They have programs to help with the cost of removal for ex-gang members and former white supremacist. Have you looked into that? Would you expect someone to overlook a forehead tattoo?

Not much difference between that a neck tatoo.

good reason to not get tattoos

everyone reading this should know, don't get tattoos, they don't help you in anything.

same thing with beards.

dont go to jobs with a beard. some employers dont like it, but rarely will it ever help you get the job.

Huh. Really?

You know discrimination is a form of bullying??

I have full sleeved arms, tattoos on my legs and back and work a very professional job.

As does my daughter. So it has nada to do with appearance, and everything to do with discrimination. And I firmly believe, those same people are so uncomfortable with themselves, that they make excuses for how others look.

Shame on you and them. Most cops have tattoos.

What do you think about that?! Smh

Same thing just happened to me today. Memorized the whole menu and passed the test over the menu (for which i was told would give me a $ .25 raise if i got over a 90...).

So i put on the tshirt i was given and apparently the manager could see the EDGE of a small tattoo on my upper back that just is barely seen above the tshirt. Told me i could not cover it up and that i can't work there.

I work at that location, and I am very surprised to learn this. Lots of the employees there have tattoos, including the managers.

Usually they are covered up though. Maybe they it was in an uncoverable location, or they perceived it as offensive?

it is certainly not offensive but it is on my neck. however, no discussion or options were given they just never called me and would not take my call.

Yes the manager who gave me the job and start date has a tattoo on his arm that he is made to cover. there are many ways to conceal mine and i was never given the chance. other workers already having tats only makes this worse. I think it is obvious the tat is inconspicuous in that it took him 3 times meeting with me to even notice it.

Not fair or consistent hiring practice.I now make $16.00/hour anyway and did not ever need them, just wanted some extra cash at an easy job.The surprise came from being involved with so many other places(cub scouts- school) and not being accepted there.Their loss not mine. I came in and wrote out the entire menu from memory that really should have been good enough reason to want me to stay but they have more important concerns.

Or maybe they were fired for a good reason and are BSing and saying it was because of their tattoo.

I like Jimmy Johns but the people working there are rude and inattentive in Clovis CA. The made the wrong sandwich for me, it was right on the receipt but when I picked it up it was not what I had ordered. The manager refused to change it and make it right.
